Registration for City of Toronto summer recreation programs begins next week
Whether it’s cooling off in the pool, mastering arts and crafts or discovering the joy of a new sport, the City of Toronto has thousands of summer recreation programs for residents which will be open for sign up next week. A complete listing of available activities can be found on the City’s Summer Recreation Activities webpage: www.toronto.ca/summerrec.
The City is Toronto’s largest provider of recreation activities for people of all ages, skill levels and interests. Approximately 12,000 registered courses and more than 85,800 summer non-camp spaces are available for activities including arts and crafts, yoga and fitness, general interest, sports and swimming.
Summer activities including camp programs begin on Monday, June 30, running through the end of August. Registration for summer camps opened in February and remains open where space is still available. More information and registration can be found on the City’s CampTO webpage: www.toronto.ca/CampTO.
Registration for the After-School Recreation Care (ARC) program began today. More information on the ARC program is available on the City’s ARC webpage: www.toronto.ca/ARC.
Early registration for older adult summer recreation activities for people ages 60 plus will start at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 9.
Registration for summer recreation programs starts at 7 a.m. on the following dates for all programs:
• Tuesday, June 10 – Etobicoke York and Toronto and East York
• Wednesday, June 11 – North York and Scarborough
The easiest way to register for recreation programs is online. Registration by phone will also be available at 416-396-7378, from 7 a.m. on registration dates. For in-person registration support, community centre locations will be open on the following dates from 7 a.m. to noon:
Tuesday, June 10
• Driftwood Community Centre, 4401 Jane St.
• Masaryk Cowan Community Centre, 220 Cowan Ave.
• Memorial Pool and Health Club, 44 Montgomery Rd.
• Regent Park Community Centre, 402 Shuter St.
• Wellesley Community Centre, 495 Sherbourne St.
• York Recreation Centre, 115 Black Creek Dr.

Residents who require help preparing for registration can join a virtual registration preparation session. Dates, times and links are listed on the City’s website: www.toronto.ca/onlinereg. Residents can also speak to staff by calling 416-396-7378, Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The call centre will be open for extended hours on registration days Tuesday, June 10 and Wednesday, June 11, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The City’s recreation programs are popular and many have waiting lists. If registrants are unable to attend their program, they are asked to contact their local community centre or call 416-396-7378 to cancel their registration so that a spot can be offered to someone else.
Welcome Policy Recreation Fee Subsidy
The Welcome Policy credit can be used to register for City recreation programs including summer recreation programs. Those who receive social assistance and are living in Toronto can apply to receive this credit.
Toronto residents with a before-tax total family income below the low-income cut-off (LICO) threshold may also apply for the Welcome Policy by visiting the City’s Welcome Policy webpage: www.toronto.ca/welcome-policy-recreation-fee-subsidy.
Discounts for older adults
Participants aged 60 years and older receive a 50 per cent discount on the regular price of adult recreation programs excluding private, semi-private and small group lessons. More information about free programs and other subsidies for recreation programs is available on the City’s webpage: www.toronto.ca/free-lower-cost-recreation-options/.
Toronto is home to more than three million people whose diversity and experiences make this great city Canada’s leading economic engine and one of the world’s most diverse and livable cities.
