Candidate nominations for Ward 15, Don Valley West by-election close on September 19
The deadline to file or withdraw a nomination to run as a candidate for the office of Councillor in Ward 15, Don Valley West is 2 p.m. on Thursday, September 19.
To run for the office of Councillor, a person must:
- File a nomination paper with original signature
- Provide proof of qualifying address within the city of Toronto
- Pay a $100 nomination filing fee
- Provide at least 25 endorsements of nomination from eligible Toronto voters with original signatures.
Nominations must be filed in person at the Toronto Elections office, located at Toronto City Hall, 100 Queen St. W., first floor, Permit Alley. The office is open Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (excluding statutory holidays). On Thursday, September 19, the last day of the nomination period, the office will accept nominations or withdrawals from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Individuals filing or withdrawing a nomination must bring all required documents and identification with them and ensure their forms are complete. Both the nomination paper and the endorsements of nomination must be completed on the prescribed forms and have original signatures. These forms along with additional information are available on the City’s Ward 15, Don Valley West By-election candidate information webpage: www.toronto.ca/elections/candidates.
Until a nomination paper is filed, a person cannot raise or spend any money on their campaign.
Third Party Advertiser Registration
A person, corporation or trade union intending to spend money to promote, support or oppose a candidate in the Ward 15, Don Valley West By-election must register as a third party advertiser.
A third party advertiser Notice of Registration can only be filed in person at the Toronto Elections City Hall office. Registrations can be filed Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., until Friday, November 1 (excluding statutory holidays).

Voting Options
In Person:
Advance voting will be available on Saturday, October 26 and Sunday, October 27, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Election Day is Monday, November 4. Voting places will be open on election day from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
By Mail:
Starting Friday, September 20, eligible voters can request a mail-in voting package online or by phone. Information about voting by mail is available on the Toronto Elections Mail-in Voting webpage: www.toronto.ca/votebymail or by calling 311.
