Mayor Olivia Chow to launch Pride Month, raise the Progress Pride flag and proclaim June as Pride Month in Toronto
Tomorrow, Mayor Olivia Chow will be joined by Councillor Chris Moise (Toronto Centre) to proclaim June as Pride Month in Toronto and raise the Progress Pride flag at Toronto City Hall in celebration of the history, courage and contributions of Toronto’s Two-Spirit, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Queer (2SLGBTQ+) communities.
Date: Friday, May 31
Time: 5 p.m.
Location: Courtesy flagpole, Podium Roof, Toronto City Hall, 100 Queen St. W.
Progress Pride flag-raising ceremonies will also be held in Albert Campbell Square at Scarborough Civic Centre and Etobicoke Civic Centre on Monday, June 3 at 9 a.m. A ceremony was held at Mel Lastman Square at North York Civic Centre on Sunday, May 26.
This year’s Pride Month festivities run from Saturday, June 1 to Sunday, June 30 culminating in the Pride Parade, one of the largest cultural events of its kind in North America.
