Record number of people show up to vote early in Vancouver by-election: next chance, April 1

The took place on Wednesday, March 26 – offering voters one of three ways to participate in the 2025 Vancouver by-election. A total of 2,876 ballots were cast, which is a 44% increase over voter turnout on day one of advance voting in the 2017 by-election

Persons can also vote on general voting day, Saturday April 5th or vote by mail. Eligible voters are asked to keep in mind the below key vote my mail dates:

- Tuesday, April 1, noon – Deadline to request to pick up a vote by mail package from the Election Office.

- Friday, April 4, noon – Deadline to pick up approved vote by mail package from Election Office.

- Saturday, April 5 – Last day to return your ballot. If voters aren’t certain their ballot will arrive in time by mail, they are strongly encouraged to use a designated drop box. Find drop box locations and their cut off times

There are 13 candidates on the ballot, and voters may select up to two candidates to fill the two vacant seats on City Council. For full details—including each candidate’s name, ballot order number, and links to their digital platforms and contact information— visit the .

New AI chatbot improves access to City information and support

The City of Vancouver in finding information and answers to common questions after hours. Visitors to the website will initially find this self-serve tool on select webpages of vancouver.ca. A full rollout across the website will happen over the coming months.

City of Vancouver approves over $11M in grants to support community organizations creating positive change
