Exhibition Dates: *March 6 - May 8, 2024*

We are happy to introduce Valentina Voronkova as our new Cheryl Sallee Gallery artist! Valentina Voronkova did not always identify as an artist. "In 1993 I moved to Seattle from St. Petersburg, Russia to study biochemistry at the UW Ph.D. program...I worked as a researcher at different companies in the biotech industry" explains Voronkova. "However by the end of my university study I became more and more fascinated with Art. In 2012 my unfinished dialog with art became very loud and I decided to leave science and continue it at the Mark O’Higgins atelier program at Gage Academy of Art, Seattle." Voronkova now participates in art programs and Plein Air groups to hone her impressionist style.

Roark Congdon

*Auburn Community and Event Center [ https://www.auburnwa.gov/cms/one.aspx?portalId=11470638&pageId=12529095 ]
910 Ninth St. SE*

Artist:* Roark Congdon*
Exhibition Dates:* January 4 - March 7, 2024*

In the words of Congdon, “My work is a fusion of digital fabrication and analog painting, a marriage of Western art history and the expressive spontaneity of brushwork, all underpinned by my classical sculpture training in Italy. This synthesis allows me to respect the handcrafting process and the tactile beauty of mark-making while embracing the boundless possibilities offered by modern technology.” Referencing his experience in Western art history, he builds the foundation of his artistic expression on his learned experience. “I draw inspiration from the masters who have come before me, learning from their techniques, compositions, and principles. This reverence for tradition informs the structure and aesthetics of my work, providing a solid framework within which I can experiment and innovate.”

Irina Kladova

*Cheryl Sallee Gallery [ https://www.auburnwa.gov/cms/one.aspx?portalId=11470638&pageId=12529095 ]
**Auburn Senior Center
808 Ninth St. SE*

Artist:* Irina Kladova [ https://kladovaart.blogspot.com/ ]*
Exhibition Dates: *January 3 - March 1, 2024*

Irina Kladova’s artistic process “begins with observing, looking for the fragmentary passages that are often unnoticed but are present all around us.” In her watercolor paintings, she enjoys stitching together small details, shades of colors, and a variety of different patterns, creating stories from these moments. “My work is a reflection of my own experiences and thoughts, as well as an attempt to understand the relationships between objects and their characteristics. Watercolor brings a sense of unpredictability and transience to my work, much like the ever-changing nature of life. Each stroke of the brush adds another layer to my artistic vision, creating an ongoing narrative that is part of a larger work. Ultimately, my goal as an artist is to invite others to see the world in a new way, and to appreciate the beauty that exists in the in-between spaces of our lives. Through my art, I hope to create a dialogue about the value of slowing down, being present, and appreciating the world around us.

KT Hancock Art on Main

*Art on Main Gallery [ https://www.auburnwa.gov/cms/one.aspx?portalId=11470638&pageId=12529278 ]
**One Main St.*

Artist:** KT Hancock [ https://kthancock.com/ ]**
Exhibition Dates:* January 8 - April 8 , 2024

*We are happy to announce KT Hancock as our Art on Main Installation artist! Hancock will be creating "an illuminated, site specific and immersive display of neon that illustrates a grounded view of the function of transmission towers and high voltage electrical." In this neon piece, Hancock focuses on communicating how essential these structures have become in forming interpersonal relationships. "Transmission towers are vital to our daily lives and yet they remain unseen; unremarkable against our urban landscapes. They are the silent workers, a seemingly unexceptional interconnected network of lines and towers."
