It has been a busy year at the Canadian Conservation Institute (CCI) and the Canadian Heritage Information Network (CHIN). Since 2025 is fast approaching, we wanted to give you a sneak peek at some exciting opportunities on the horizon!

Facility Advisory Services

We are excited to announce that starting on January 1, 2025, CCI will be accepting applications for facility advisory services in 2025–2026.

Our team of advisors offers two main services: a facility assessment service and a capital project advisory service. The first includes a general assessment of facilities and collections care practices. The second includes support to identify risks to collections during new builds or major renovations.

Although we welcome applications from all institutions, special consideration will be given to those from Indigenous and other equity-deserving groups and to those located far from large urban centres.

Host CCI In-Person Workshops

We will soon be accepting applications to host CCI in-person workshops!

Led by experienced facilitators, our workshops cover a variety of topics focused on the conservation and preservation of objects and collections. Stay tuned for details on workshop topics and how to apply.

CCI and CHIN Conference Day

The CCI and CHIN Conference Day is back on February 12, 2025! Open to students, recent graduates and educators, this online conference offers a unique opportunity to gain a better understanding of heritage conservation and collections documentation, and to learn more about CCI and CHIN. More details and information about how to register coming soon!

Portable XRF Spectrometer Loan Program

Earlier this year, you may have heard about our new portable XRF spectrometers. These tools can be used to identify pigments, determine the metal composition of heritage objects, detect low levels of environmental pollutants and so much more!

Our loan program will be launching next year, so keep an eye out for details on how to participate.

Learning Survey

Early next year, we will be sending out a learning survey to better understand the needs of the heritage community. Your insights will help us continue to deliver valuable resources and services to our community.

Ce fut une année très chargée pour l’Institut canadien de conservation (ICC) et le Réseau canadien d’information sur le patrimoine (RCIP). Comme 2025 approche à grands pas, nous souhaitons vous donner un aperçu de quelques occasions intéressantes qui se profilent àl’horizon!

Services de consultation en matière d’installations

Nous avons le plaisir d'annoncer que, à compter du 1er janvier 2025, l’ICC acceptera les demandes de services de consultation en matière d’installations pour 2025-2026.

Notre équipe de conseillers et conseillères offre deux services principaux : l’évaluation d’installations et les services de consultation en matière de projets d’immobilisation. Le premier comprend une évaluation générale des installations et des pratiques de soin des collections. Le second comprend du soutien pour repérer les risques qu’encourent les collections lors de nouvelles constructions ou de rénovations majeures.

Bien que nous acceptions les demandes de tous les établissements, une attention particulière sera accordée à ceux des groupes autochtones et d'autres groupes méritant l'équité, ainsi qu’à ceux situés loin des grands centres urbains.

Être l’hôte des ateliers en personne del’ICC

Nous accepterons bientôt les demandes pour être l’hôte d’un atelier en personne de l’ICC!

Animés pardes animateurs expérimentés, nos ateliers couvrent une variété de sujets axés sur la conservation et la préservation des objets et des collections. Restez à l’affût des détails sur les thèmes des ateliers et sur la façon de soumettre une demande.

Journée de conférence del’ICC et du RCIP

La Journée de conférence de l’ICC et du RCIP sera de retour le 12 février 2025! Ouverte aux étudiants, aux nouveaux diplômés et aux enseignants, cette conférence en ligne offre une occasion unique de mieux comprendre la conservation du patrimoine et la documentation des collections, et d'en apprendre davantage sur l'ICC et le RCIP. Plus de détails et de renseignements sur la façon de s'inscrire suivront bientôt!

Programme de prêt de spectromètres defluorescence des rayons X portatifs

Plus tôt cette année, vous avez peut-être entendu parler de nos nouveaux spectromètres de fluorescence des rayons X portatifs. Ces outils peuvent servir à identifier les pigments, à déterminer la composition métallique des objets patrimoniaux, à détecter de faibles niveaux de polluants environnementaux, et bien plus encore!

Notre programme de prêt sera lancé l'année prochaine, alors restez à l'affût pour connaître les modalités de participation.

Sondage sur l’apprentissage

Au début de l’année prochaine, nous vous ferons parvenir un sondage sur l’apprentissage pour mieux comprendre les besoins de la communauté du patrimoine. Vos commentaires nous aideront à continuer à fournir des ressources et des services précieux à notre communauté.
