City of Toronto and MLSE unveil Toronto Stadium renovations ahead of the FIFA World Cup 26™

As Toronto counts down to host the world for the FIFA World Cup 26™, Toronto Stadium (BMO Field) is undergoing a game-changing renovation to enhance the stadium and elevate the fan experience.

The City of Toronto and Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment (MLSE) will announce the detailed plans for the transformation of the stadium to further establish the venue as a best-in-class sports destination for the tournament, as well as announcing the permanent legacy enhancements for Toronto sports fans.

Deputy Mayor Ausma Malik (Spadina-Fort York) will be joined by Sharon Bollenbach, Executive Director, FIFA World Cup 26, City of Toronto; Adam van Koeverden, Member of Parliament (Milton), Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Sport; and Nick Eaves, Chief Operating Officer, MLSE.

Date: Monday, March 3
Time: 1:30 p.m. (Media sign in begins at 12:30 p.m.)
Location: BMO Club, Toronto Stadium (BMO Field), 170 Princes' Blvd. Media are asked to enter through Gate 2.

Toronto will host six matches in the FIFA World Cup 26™, kicking off on June 12, 2026, with the first-ever men’s FIFA World Cup match on Canadian soil and featuring Canada’s Men’s National Team. The event will include a virtual walkthrough of the stadium’s transformation and a sneak peek at what fans can expect this season as well as newly unveiled renderings and detailed renovation plans, ensuring Toronto Stadium (BMO Field) is in top form for the world's biggest tournament.
