City of Toronto launches public engagement on proposed bylaw about demonstrations near vulnerable institutions

The City of Toronto is inviting the public to participate in a consultation process to help inform the development of a proposed bylaw to address the impacts of demonstrations on vulnerable institutions. As directed by Toronto City Council, the proposed bylaw will focus on protecting vulnerable institutions such as schools, cultural centres and places of worship.

The City is providing multiple ways for people to share their input, making it easier for everyone to participate. Starting today, feedback can be shared through an online survey or written submissions.

The online survey is open until Thursday, May 1. It’s available in 18 languages to make it easier for more people to participate.

For more information and to complete the survey, visit the City’s Public Consultation for a Proposed Demonstrations Bylaw to Protect Vulnerable Institutions webpage: www.toronto.ca/community-people/get-involved/public-consultations/public-consultation-for-proposed-demonstration-bylaw.

Residents can also submit written comments via email at engagement@toronto.ca until Thursday, May 1.

Updates about the public and community discussions planned for April will be posted on the City’s Public Consultation for a Proposed Demonstrations Bylaw to Protect Vulnerable Institutions webpage: www.Toronto.ca/PublicConsult.

Public input will help shape key aspects and implementation considerations of the proposed bylaw that will be presented to City Council in May.
