News Release - Advance voting turnout for Trustee, Toronto District School Board Ward 11 (Don Valley West) by-election

Advance voting turnout for Trustee, Toronto District School Board Ward 11 (Don Valley West) by-election

A total of 1028 voters cast their ballot during advance voting in the by-election for the Trustee, Toronto District School Board (TDSB) Ward 11.

Turnout for advance voting was:
· 586 voters on Saturday, February 22
· 442 voters on Sunday, February 23

Election day
Election day is Monday, March 3. On election day, 18 voting places will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Eligible voters choosing to vote on election day must do so at their assigned voting places. Voting place details are available on the Toronto Elections webpage: www.toronto.ca/MyVote.

To receive a ballot at a voting place, a voter must present identification that shows their name and qualifying TDSB Ward 11 (Don Valley West) address.

Voters are encouraged to bring their Voter Information Card (VIC) with them to the voting place. Paper VICs were mailed to electors who were on the voters’ list by Thursday, February 6. To view, print or download a digital copy of a VIC to a mobile device, visit www.toronto.ca/Myvote.

About VICs
· A VIC provides information about when and where to vote on election day.
· Only electors who were on the voters’ list by Thursday, February 6 were mailed a VIC and have access to their VIC on the City’s website: www.toronto.ca/MyVote.
· Eligible voters with acceptable identification who are not on the voters’ list can be added to the voters’ list at the voting place on election day.
· Eligible voters do not need a VIC to vote.
· A VIC is not an acceptable form of identification for voting purposes.

By-election results
Starting at approximately 9 p.m. on Monday, March 3, unofficial by-election results are expected to be available on the Toronto Elections webpage: www.toronto.ca/ByElection.

Unofficial by-election results will include vote totals from advance voting, mail-in voting and election day.

Third party advertiser registration
A person, corporation or trade union which intends to spend money to promote, support or oppose a candidate in the TDSB Ward 11 (Don Valley West) by-election must register as a third party advertiser.

Registration for third party advertisers closes at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, February 28.

A third party advertiser Notice of Registration can only be filed in person at the Toronto Elections office at City Hall. Registrations can be filed Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The City Clerk must certify the registration before a third party advertiser can spend money on their campaign, accept contributions or begin advertising. Registered third party advertisers must identify themselves on advertisements and comply with requirements under the Municipal Elections Act, 1996.
