City of Toronto breaking ground on new state-of-the-art Davisville Community and Aquatic Centre
Earlier today, Councillor Josh Matlow (Toronto-St. Paul’s) and City of Toronto staff broke ground on the highly-anticipated Davisville Community and Aquatic Centre, a state-of-the-art facility designed to enhance the local community's access to recreational and wellness services.
Located east of the Yonge Street and Davisville Avenue intersection, this new aquatic and multi-use facility will feature a wide range of amenities and will offer a variety of programming spaces and multi-purpose rooms, which together, are designed to accommodate both individual fitness goals and group activities, making it an ideal place for residents to connect, stay active and engage with their neighbours
Key highlights of the future Davisville Community and Aquatic Centre will include:
• State-of-the-art 25-metre swimming pool suitable for both recreational swimming and swim training
• Warm-water leisure pool for therapeutic use and family-friendly programming
• Fitness centre with equipment for cardio, strength training and fitness classes
• Community meeting rooms and multipurpose spaces for group activities, workshops and events
• Accessible design to ensure that all community members can fully enjoy the facility
The Davisville Community and Aquatic Centre was developed with sustainability in mind. Featuring energy-efficient systems and environmentally responsible design elements, the new centre will share facilities with the new Davisville Junior Public School through a partnership with the Toronto District School Board. The school will have access to the facility’s swimming pools and the City will have access to the school’s double gymnasium and underground parking garage outside of school hours to support City recreation programming.
Expected to open in 2027, the Davisville Community and Aquatic Centre represents a significant investment in public infrastructure, reinforcing the City’s commitment to improving public amenities and supporting vibrant, active communities, as well as the City’s commitment to building net zero emissions facilities.
More information about the Davisville Community and Aquatic Centre can be found on the City’s website: https://www.toronto.ca/city-government/planning-development/construction-new-facilities/new-parks-facilities/davisville-aquatic-community-recreation-centre/.
The Davisville Community and Aquatic Centre is just one many community and recreational centres the City is investing in for residents.
Over the past few years, the City has broken ground on Wallace Emerson Community Centre, Northeast Scarborough Community Recreation and Child Care Centre and East Bayfront Community Recreation Centre while successfully opening Ethennonnhawahstihnen' Community Recreation Centre and Library, One Yonge Community Recreation Centre and Canoe Landing Community Recreation Centre.
The City recently launched a comprehensive outreach campaign to review and refresh Parks and Recreation Facilities Plan and Parkland Strategy. All residents can share their opinions by participating online. The survey is available in six languages and is open until Wednesday, December 18. More information including opportunities to provide feedback is available on the City’s webpage: https://cotsurvey.chkmkt.com/?e=416688&d=l&h=66D856CDC3F0CD6&l=en.
