Nuit Blanche Toronto returns on October 5 with more than 90 art installations and improved accessibility
Nuit Blanche, the City of Toronto’s free, all-night celebration of contemporary art, returns on Saturday, October 5 with expanded ways for people take part.
Everyone is encouraged to explore the more than 90 contemporary art projects, starting at 7 p.m. Programming information and a complete list of art projects that are designed to transform public spaces and animate cultural sites throughout the city, can be found on the Nuit Blanche webpage: www.toronto.ca/nuitblanche. Printed maps are available at Toronto City Hall and the Tourist Information Centre at Union Station while supplies last.
The event offers two concentrated zones for easy navigation, with 40 works along the downtown waterfront and 12 projects at Humber Polytechnic Lakeshore Campus in Etobicoke and three curated exhibitions. For those seeking less crowded settings, an additional 40+ artworks and performances will be scattered across Toronto, providing a more intimate experience.
Those interested in learning about this year’s program and creative process are encouraged to attend a Talk & Toast with the Nuit Blanche Creative Team tonight at STACKT market, 28 Bathurst St. Other program features include artist talks during the event, tours and workshops in the extended program period after October 6 that offer new, accessible ways to engage with the art. ASL interpretation will be provided the majority of the program. Enhanced accessibility
ASL interpretation will be part of the Event Hub programming at Harbour Square Park (25 Queens Quay East) during the event.
Accessible washrooms, drinking water, food trucks and printed maps will be available at Harbourfront Centre and the following Nuit Blanche Event Centres:
- George Brown College Event Centre, 22 Dockside Dr.
- Queens Quay East Event Centre, 95 Queens Quay E.
- Toronto Music Garden Event Centre, 479 Queens Quay W.
- Humber Polytechnic Event Centre, 21 Colonel Samuel Smith Park Dr.
Families with young children and audiences seeking low-sensory experiences may consider visiting during off-peak hours (typically 3 to 7 a.m.) or visit the 12 projects that will remain available to the public during the extended period, between October 7 to 13.

Enhanced accessibility project highlights include:
- Rise Over Run by Atanas Bozdarov, A.S.M. Kobayashi and Friends is an interactive, wheelchair accessible sculptural and multimedia installation made of access ramps, skateboard ramps and stories from disability and skate communities, sponsored by Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport.
- What are you saying? by Mishann Lau bridges physical distance through video chat stations in three separate locations within the Waterfront Central exhibition entitled, And the spaces between us smile. The interactive nature of the project allows audience members to talk to each other about the art from locations across the exhibition site.
- ASL-interpreted interactive performances by Elder Duke Redbird, Charles Spearin and the Switch Collective at the Nuit Blanche Event Hub.
- Assistive Listening Systems for Black in Time by African Canadian Explorations, David Ofori Zapparoli and Donna Marie Paris and The Gallery of Memories by Egale Canada and Travis Myers at Pride Toronto.
- Written transcripts of audio content for Light Speed: Bridging Distance at the Aga Khan Museum, One: Many & Nursing Wounds at Wildseed Centre for Art & Activism and more.
- Large print text for The Moon, the Earth and Us by internationally renowned contemporary artist, illustrator and children’s book author Oliver Jeffers; sponsored by Humber Polytechnic.
Nuit Blanche extended program runs until October 13
Touch Tours, ASL-interpreted experiences, workshops and tactile 3D models (for blind and low vision audiences) will also be part of the extended programming, along with visual stories (a tool for individuals on the autism spectrum) for select projects.
