City response and available supports following the tragic events after the Lapu Lapu Day Block Party on April 26
In the month following the tragic incident that happened in the wake of the Lapu Lapu Day Block Party on April 26, the City continues to extend its deepest condolences and support to the Filipino community and to all those impacted by this tragic incident. Our thoughts are with the victims, their loved ones, and everyone affected during this difficult time.

Sundays are for strolling on Water Street this summer
The City of Vancouver is by testing public space and transportation changes that will help shape future upgrades and programming in the neighbourhood.
From May 25 the City has begun piloting two-way traffic on Cordova Street from Gore Avenue to Richards Street ahead of car-free Sundays on Water Street this summer. The change to two-way circulation is expected to improve vehicle access for Gastown area residents, visitors and service providers and support smoother traffic movement to downtown on Sundays throughout the summer.

New Seawall Path by Science World now open
For everyone who loves walking or biking around False Creek, get ready to .
The new path is designed for long-term use and will remain in place for the years ahead while the City continues long-term planning for the safe deconstruction of the Expo Deck. The existing closed area of the deck will not reopen. For their safety, the public is kindly asked to obey signage in the area and stay out of the closed areas.
City-funded rooftop childcare opens at Eric Hamber Secondary
The City of Vancouver together with the Mount Pleasant Neighbourhood House (MPNH), the Vancouver School Board (VSB) and local families on the rooftop of Eric Hamber Secondary School.
Since Vancouver City Councils 2022 adoption of the City has made significant progress developing childcare and finding innovative ways to help implement the Provincial and Federal Governments' vision of a universal early care and learning system. The City remains committed to expanding access to affordable childcare, ensuring everyone in Vancouver can learn, work and thrive.
