Mayor Olivia Chow and Toronto Fire Services to kick off Fire Prevention Week

Tomorrow, Mayor Olivia Chow and Councillor Paula Fletcher (Toronto-Danforth) will join members of Toronto Fire Services to kick off Fire Prevention Week™ and to commemorate 150 years of dedicated fire protection services in Toronto. Open to all residents, this family-friendly event will feature fire safety demonstrations and educational displays, as well as an opportunity to meet the firefighters who serve our community.

Date: Saturday, October 5
Time: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Location: Toronto Fire Academy, 895 Eastern Ave.

Through education, prevention and emergency response, Toronto Fire Services has provided world-class fire protection services to Toronto residents for more than 150 years. Fire prevention is the first line of defence. This year’s Fire Prevention Week™ theme, “Smoke alarms: Make them work for you!” is focused on educating everyone about the importance of having working smoke alarms in the home.
