News Release
June 14, 2025
City of Toronto opens 15 outdoor pools early to help residents beat the heat
Mayor Olivia Chow was on the pool deck today to mark the early opening of 15 outdoor pools ahead of summer.
This year, the City of Toronto allocated nearly $2 million as part of the 2025 budget to extend pool season and daily operating hours so that some pools can open in mid-June and remain operating into September. This highlights the City’s commitment to respond to climate change by providing Toronto residents with more options to stay cool as above seasonal temperatures have been arriving earlier and staying around later in recent years.
Starting today, residents can jump into one of 15 pools. People and families should always check the individual location schedules online before visiting an outdoor pool:
• Alex Duff Memorial Pool at Christie Pits Park
• Alexandra Park
• Broadlands Community Recreation Centre
• Donald D. Summerville Olympic Pools
• Gord and Irene Risk Community Recreation Centre
• Goulding Community Recreation Centre

Quote:
“We’re excited to invest more into extending pool hours to help Toronto residents stay cool in warmer weather. Outdoor pools are a great way to stay active while safely enjoying the outdoors, and this year Toronto residents can start enjoying the water even earlier. I hope all Toronto residents will enjoy these pools, be safe and have fun this summer.”
- Mayor Olivia Chow
